Towson Business Incubator TowsonGlobal recently announced two great initiatives for entrepreneurs in and around the Baltimore area.
The entrepreneur portal
The Entrepreneur Portal is an online source of information on starting and running a business, and includes resources on relevant topics including: writing a business plan, financing your business and presentation to investors. With the Entrepreneur Portal, all of this information can now be found in one convenient place online, 24/7.
All information and resources on the portal have been gathered from various respected sources, such as the US Small Business Administration (SBA), Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED), Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), US Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), Small Business Resource Center (SBRC), International Trade Administration (ITA)

TowsonGlobal is Towson University’s business incubator that helps entrepreneurs learn how to compete in the global economy, both at home and abroad. TowsonGlobal provides businesses with a wide range of support services, including affordable, high-quality office installations; business advice; mentoring; networking assistance; workshops and other educational forums. Members also draw on the experience of an active advisory board comprised of senior executives in technology, financial and legal services, logistics, manufacturing, contracts and venture capital.
TowsonGlobal Business Plan Competition
In addition to its 24/7 portal, TowsonGlobal also hosts a business plan competition. The grand prize winner will receive a 90-day resident membership valued at $5,000 (includes office space, mentoring advisory services and more), plus a CASH prize.
Contest entrants must be innovative early-stage or early-stage businesses or entrepreneurs in the Baltimore-Washington, DC area who have a reasonably well-developed idea or technology and are interested in receiving support to grow the business . Entrants must submit a 3-5 page abstract before February 7, 2011.
