Micros Report Pain at the Pump, Says NASE
Aug 11th, 2008 | By Dawn R. Rivers | Category: ResearchA whopping 94% of microbusiness owners delivered a resounding “Yes!” in answer to the seemingly silly question “Are increased energy costs, such as gasoline prices, affecting your business?” No surprises there.
According to the results of a member survey released by The National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE) last week, 87% of respondents said that higher energy costs were significantly or moderately hurting them. Only 6% of respondents said that those higher costs were not having an effect. In response, more than half say they have had to raise their prices, while three in four have curtailed business-related auto travel. Among proposed solutions, microbusiness owners favor turning law enforcement loose on countries and companies that collude on energy prices, offshore drilling and drilling in ANWR, and tax incentives to encourage big oil to find alternative energy sources.
