Research: Rural Economies Prove Surprisingly Dynamic
Feb 18th, 2008 | By Dawn R. Rivers | Category: ResearchWhile high population density areas of the country have the highest concentration of economic activity, the rates of establishment births and deaths in urban versus rural areas show surprisingly small (but statistically significant) variations. Such is the conclusion reached in a new working paper released by the SBA Office of Advocacy last week. As the researchers point out, this research has certain limitations: it does not include industry level analysis and excludes nonemployer businesses. But it is a very good start to gathering the kind of information that could be invaluable to rural economic development professionals.
